During last week's knitting meetup, I managed to finish the back of Splash! On Swing Thing, I'm up to the place where I can slip the sleeve stitches to scrap yarn.
I've been practicing a new technique on Swing Thing, knitting backwards! I'm very excited about learning to do this, as it completely eliminates the need to purl! Also, my tension is much more even knitting backwards compared to turning and purling across. So glad I decided to try it! Want to see how it's done? Here's a video:
Amazingly cool, right?
Also, I want to share some possible upcoming projects. Recently I purchased a Berroco pattern booklet. I've never bought one or really even wanted one before, but I'm sure you'll understand why I practically broke my fingers making sure this issue (#303) was in the mail to me!
Puleez... Little girl, tweedy yarn, seamless patterns, rubber boots & chickens! For pete's sake, you think your life is unique & then a knitting pattern booklet goes and makes it obvious that you're just a demographic. Ah, well, it's a happy niche to be living in, anyway.
Oh, and there's some patterns for mama in there to. This one's my favorite:
Did I mention that the yarn in these patterns, Remix, is all recycled fiber? Yeah... Okay. I'll wrap it up. I know you probably have some shopping to do now!
Here's the booklet!

ETA: Oh crap! I just realized I forgot to share pics of my mom wearing CeCe! It fit her perfectly & she seems to love it. Enjoy:
This was her reaction when I mentioned that she looks more & more like grandma every year! Heh.

That's just too funny. Apparently we were both hearing Trine talking about the knitting backwards thing! It's sure easy once you get the hang of it.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I looked at the pattern book & the "Rafik" cardigan looks almost exactly like the cardigan in pieces that I have been promising to finish in vain for about the last two years. The sweater for your mom is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteyay on the booklet!! hehe and double yay for the sweater!! looks really great on your mom! good job my dear...

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to watch the video - I've been thinking of learning to knit backwards lately. Thanks for sharing!!
I gotta get that booklet! CeCe looks great and your mom is a doll.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I look so old...when did that happen?

Mom
First of all, the sweater looks fabulous on your mom! Secondly, I LOVE THE BERROCO BOOKLETS! I just bought three of them last week, although not the book for Remix...not that I didn't want to, of course! I'm in love with their patterns and yarn, which could totally prove dangerous to the household budget. (!!)
